Infrastructure for movement and transition

Roadside environments support the moments between journeys - where people stop, refuel, recharge and move on.

We design infrastructure that enables these transitions, creating environments that are safe, legible and efficient while responding to the operational demands of vehicle movement, servicing and user flow. From transport-adjacent infrastructure to customer-facing destinations, our work supports the everyday functioning of movement networks at multiple scales.

A broad and evolving sector

Our experience in roadside services spans a wide range of environments, from filling stations and EV charging sites to multi-storey car parks, cycle hubs, car rental facilities, salt storage and roadside retail.

This breadth allows us to take a holistic view of roadside infrastructure - understanding how different uses interact, overlap and evolve - and to design solutions that are robust, adaptable and grounded in real operational requirements.

Designed for complex, multi-use environments

Many roadside sites bring together multiple functions within constrained footprints - combining energy provision, parking, retail and circulation in a single scheme.

We design integrated layouts that carefully manage vehicle movement, servicing, safety zones and user experience, ensuring each element works independently while contributing to a clear and coherent overall environment.

Operationally driven, technically informed

Roadside projects are shaped by technical and regulatory constraints, from highways access and vehicle tracking to environmental considerations, servicing requirements and safety standards.

Our approach is grounded in these realities, ensuring that designs are not only conceptually clear but also deliverable, compliant and efficient in use - whether for public-sector infrastructure, commercial operators or mixed-use roadside developments.

Delivered in live and evolving environments

Much of our work in this sector involves adapting and upgrading existing sites - maintaining operation while introducing new infrastructure, reconfiguring layouts or accommodating emerging technologies such as EV charging.

This experience, combined with our wider expertise across transport, commercial and infrastructure projects, provides a strong foundation for delivering roadside environments that are both practical today and adaptable for the fut
