Planning permission has been granted for a contemporary new-build residence set within the wooded slopes of Boars Hill.
The design has been carefully developed in response to the site’s steep topography and rich ecology, negotiating constraints that include ancient woodland, mature oak trees and habitats supporting protected species such as great-crested newts and bats. The resulting architectural form follows these natural parameters, allowing the house to sit comfortably and quietly within its surroundings.
A modern rural estate
An ‘upside-down’ arrangement places seven en-suite bedrooms at ground level, while first-floor living spaces are elevated to capture long views towards Oxford’s dreaming spires.
Beyond the main house, landscaped terraces incorporate nature ponds and water-attenuation features, complemented by a garage, annexe and generous outdoor amenity areas. As with all OA new-build projects, sustainability principles and advanced technologies are embedded throughout to support energy efficiency and long-term environmental performance.
