Grade II Listed 19th-century manor near Taunton, creating a new specialist SEN school for 30 pupils aged 6 - 19.

Set within approximately 4.5 acres of grounds, Rumwell Hall has been sensitively adapted from its previous commercial use to provide a supportive educational environment for pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) and high levels of anxiety.

The transformation carefully balances the requirements of a modern specialist school with the conservation of the historic building. Existing accommodation has been refurbished and adapted to create small-scale teaching and specialist learning spaces, while retaining significant features and the character of the Grade II Listed manor. An extensive programme of repair and conservation included re-rendering the external elevations and renewing the slate roof, reusing original materials wherever possible alongside new leadwork and sensitively integrated bat access. Internally, new finishes and decoration were introduced alongside protective fire-rated secondary glazing, providing a safe, durable and welcoming environment suited to Spaghetti Bridge’s specialist curriculum.
