We are proud to sponsor the Inclusive Design Festival in Cambridge, supporting an event that brings together designers, clients and specialists to explore how the built environment can better serve the full diversity of the people who use it. Conversations like these are essential in challenging assumptions, sharing lived experience and advancing practical approaches that improve accessibility, dignity and wellbeing.
Inclusion from the outset
Inclusive design is not an add-on at OA, nor a matter of minimum standards. It is a mindset that shapes how we brief, design and deliver projects from the earliest stages. Working across healthcare, specialist care, education, community and residential settings, we understand that the quality of an environment can directly influence recovery, learning, confidence and independence. Our teams engage users early, test ideas through visualisation and collaboration, and integrate specialist expertise in access, acoustics, lighting and environmental performance to ensure spaces are legible, calm and supportive.
Inclusive design in practice
Whether designing for people living with dementia, students with special educational needs, or communities requiring welcoming and adaptable shared spaces, our goal is always the same: to create buildings that make people feel safe, respected and able to thrive. By continuing to learn from research, from our partners and from the people who inhabit the places we design, we strengthen our ability to deliver architecture that works for everyone. Supporting the festival is therefore a natural extension of how we practise every day.
