Listed Building Consent Granted for Mount Vernon Hospital

We're pleased to announce that Listed Building Consent has been granted for the repair and conservation of the roof to the Main Building at Mount Vernon Hospital, part of The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Designed and constructed in 1904 as a specialist hospital for the treatment of tuberculosis, the building was planned in the manner of a sanatorium, with generous ventilation and carefully considered building forms to support patient recovery. Today the Grade II listed building remains an important part of the hospital estate, and the approved works will ensure the long-term protection of this historic structure.

The project will focus on the localised repair and renewal of the tiled roof to the Main Building, alongside the repair and repainting of the distinctive timber ventilation cupolas. Additional works include the re-laying of the lead roof above the grand staircase, repairs to chimneys and rainwater goods, and the replacement of several non-original rooflights with more thermally efficient glazing systems designed to remain sympathetic to the building’s historic character.
