iCollege provides long-term education placements in West Berkshire for Year 9 and 10 children who are struggling to access mainstream education.
A new stand-alone single-storey building has been delivered to expand the college’s facilities, providing much-needed, appropriately sized classroom accommodation for six SEMH pupils. The additional provision supports children in Key Stages 3 and 4 (ages 11–16) who hold an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The pavilion incorporates a small group room with associated storage and WC facilities. Located on the south-east side of the main building, it sits in close proximity to existing classrooms and benefits from views across, and direct access to, the gardens to the east.
The completed building achieves high levels of thermal performance, with insulation exceeding the minimum u-values set out in Part L of the Building Regulations. Environmentally considerate materials have been used to reduce embodied energy and support long-term durability. Internal spaces are well daylit and naturally ventilated, creating a comfortable and supportive learning environment throughout.
