Refurbishment in Live Environment Ivetsey Hospital

Set within an operational specialist mental healthcare facility, this project involved the comprehensive refurbishment and reconfiguration of existing accommodation to create modern, compliant clinical and residential environments. Delivered within a live setting, the scheme required careful phasing and coordination to ensure the continued safe operation of the hospital throughout the works.

The project comprised extensive internal strip-out, structural alterations and the reorganisation of bedrooms, en-suite facilities, clinical spaces and staff areas to improve functionality and patient experience. New layouts, partitions and finishes were introduced to modernise the building, alongside the installation of specialist doorsets, windows and anti-ligature features to enhance safety and compliance across patient areas.

A strong emphasis was placed on durability, hygiene and long-term performance, with robust wall linings, flooring systems and bespoke joinery integrated throughout. Mechanical and electrical systems were comprehensively upgraded, including ventilation, heating, lighting, fire safety, nurse call and access control systems, ensuring the facility meets modern clinical standards while supporting efficient day-to-day operation.

The result is a carefully considered transformation that delivers a safer, more functional and future-ready healthcare environment, improving outcomes for both patients and staff while extending the lifespan and performance of the existing building.
